Specialty food shops such as spice, cheese and gourmet shops need retail food licenses. Depending on the state, county and city, these can amount to up to eight different licenses and permits. Retailers must also submit retail food plans and adhere to environmental health regulations in order to stay in business.
While in many respects, Irving acts as a Dallas suburb, the city has a strong economy in its own right. Irving houses several major operations and headquarters including that of the world's largest corporation, ExxonMobil. Additionally, because of its proximity to the Dallas-Fort Wroth Airport, Irving is a major logistics center. As with most Texas cities, Irving has few business licenses and permits. Texas regulations are more plentiful, however the very business friendly state makes its licensing and permitting easy and accessible.
