Assisted Living Facilities offer the elderly the opportunity to remain independent. ALFs provide personal assistance and meals, while still giving seniors their own apartments and/or rooms. These non-medical facilities carry significant responsibility for the care and welfare of elders and therefore have their own licensing category in most states. In many cases, counties and cities also place permit and licensing requirements on ALFs.
The northern-most major city in the United States, Anchorage is a hub for transportation, military, municipal, state and federal government, tourism and resource extraction. Because of its long-time use as a major port and its military use, Anchorage is is home to many shipping and aerospace companies as well. The city remains fairly business friendly, keeping licensing simple and avoiding over-regulation.
